Q: What are you announcing?
A: Microsoft has acquired Engyro Corporation, a privately held company based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Q: Why is Microsoft buying Engyro; what are the customer benefits you expect?
A: This acquisition will help Microsoft address the interoperability needs of our customers. Engyro's technology allows Operations Manager to interoperate with different enterprise management systems providing the ability to share alert/event information and therefore gain the benefits for best of breed management for Windows and Microsoft technologies integrated with their non-Microsoft management tools. The result is overall improved visibility and enterprise health through better analysis and decision-making.

Q: Engyro offers cross-platform and non-Microsoft application solutions; does this mean that Operations Manager will now manage heterogeneous platforms or non-Microsoft apps?
A: Microsoft is acquiring Engryo to extend the interoperability of their System Center family of products with other enterprise management systems. Microsoft will continue to work with our partner ecosystem to deliver solutions for managing non-Microsoft technologies. There will continue to be partner opportunities to provide extensions for managing non-Microsoft technologies and Connectors.

Q: Which products is Microsoft going to continue to sell?
A: Engyro, as a Microsoft subsidiary, will continue to sell Engyro Product Connectors.

Q: How will this acquisition integrate with Microsoft products?
A: Today, Engyro Connectors are integrated with Operations Manager 2007 and are sold in certain Operations Manager scenarios where integration with legacy systems management products is needed.

Q: Will Microsoft be supporting Engyro’s existing customers?
A: Microsoft will continue to support the existing Engyro MOM 2005 solutions but will no longer sell MOM 2005 related Connectors, Agents, or Management Packs. Microsoft will support existing Engyro MOM 2005 Connector customers with rights to upgrade to the Operations Manager 2007 Connectors.

Q: How does this acquisition support Microsoft’s overall System Center Strategy?
A: This alliance will further Microsoft’s commitment to its customers’ longer term need for interoperable enterprise solutions and further the System Center family of solutions including Operations Manager and System Center Service Manager when it is released.
